Kidding- well.. not entirely. Honestly, though: Black Entertainment Television (and the lowbrow mentality established thereby) is ruining young blacks as a people.
Maybe you think i'm being an ass. Maybe i am. But believe it or not, i'm responsible for YOU, my fellow young black person, as we are all responsible for one another. You are my brother, you are my sister, and i want the best for all of us. Is it such an unappealing notion that I want to lift the world's opinion of you as a black person past "a source of entertainment?"

As a young adult, I would like to be taken seriously by people in this country (if not the world), and especially by those who may potentially be providing me with a career opportunity. You probably think i'm trying to pander to "whites." And if you decide take that ignorant route around the issue, sure, that's exactly what i'm doing--and you don't have to read any further. If you open your eyes, you'll see that REAL people do NOT respect you for being the flyest dope boi in your 'hood. This announcement is my way of nullifying the racism that entities like BET and MTV generate. I say "generates" because, as the primary television broadcast of contemporary black culture, they allow the most uninspiring and vulgar material to air.
Just as an aside.. what in the HELL are you doing at a place of higher education selling coke, weed, fighting, and raising pit bulls? Go home; collegiate education is wasted on you.
Anyway, if you want to be treated like an equal, then QUALIFY yourself as an equal through your actions and appearance. A few observations:
-Jordan's aren't that great.
-Real* instruments are responsible for good music.
-A shirt that fits is not taboo.
-Enunciating does not make you "white."
-"White" is not an interchangeable term for "proper," or "correct."
-Drug dealing is not a noble profession. Cocaine ruins lives.
-Respect begets respect.
And Respect is what this all comes down to. You garner respect by showing people that you respect yourself and your community. I find it hard to respect someone who just threatened to kill me or my family.
If you must respond, let's keep it constructive.
Come at me disrespectfully and i'll do the Heisman on you, bud.
